Are the members of your congregation looking… uninspired?
Or do they seem disconnected?
It’s easy to fall into the same pattern week after week, month after month, only to discover the routine has become dull.
But trying out some interactive worship ideas could be just what you need to make church life interesting again.
Open Yourself to Some Interactive Worship Ideas
As we said, it’s not unusual to get comfortable doing the same activities week after week. The problem starts when it’s no longer comfortable.
And members of the congregation become less motivated to attend. Especially when they no longer feel connected. So here are some ideas to try:
1. Start a Greeting Team
You’ve seen the greeters at the big box grocery stores. They make the whole experience of entering the building feel a bit more personal.
Well, creating a greeting team for your church is not that different. It’s an effective way to connect people with one another. Just find some volunteers of the friendly and social variety who’d be interested in joining the team.
Then have them wander the foyer before and after services to locate and approach congregants who are standing alone. From there, they can introduce the lone person to other people – just like a good party host or hostess.
2. Offer Connect Groups
So much of church is about the connections and interactions congregants have with each other. But if you have a larger congregation, then you know how difficult it is to make this happen.
So organize a connect group.
A connect group is a small group of people within the church who meet on a regular basis. Doing so helps establish a sense of community while actively living out the tenets and principles of the church on a day-to-day basis.
These groups are a great way to connect with others on a deeper level than just a simple nod or friendly handshake every Sunday. These more intimate connections are key to motivating people to continue to worship.
3. Make It Playful
Praise and worship is a deeply personal experience. But that doesn’t mean it has to be dark and serious.
As members of the congregation develop deeper bonds, you have the chance to get a little silly and playful.
For instance, you could place a couple of mini-golf sets in the foyer and encourage your congregants to play before services. Or toss out some beach balls during an exuberant high-energy worship song in one of your summer services.
You might even choose to illustrate a point in your sermon by using some movie clips. But take it one step further and provide popcorn for everyone.
If you can create some playful way for church members to participate in together, you’ll automatically start building relationships.
4. Encourage Helping Others
Of course, helping those in need is a powerful message in the church.
But the actual act of helping releases endorphins that induce feelings of happiness and satisfaction.
So encourage your congregation to look out for those who could use some assistance. It could be helping a single mother with her overactive kids during service. Or offering a ride to and from services fora fellow member.
Once they experience the natural high of helping, more and more connections will be forged.
These are just four interactive worship ideas that will have church congregants singing your praises.
You can surely come up with some more of your own. We have faith in you!
